Bermuda is located in the North Atlantic Ocean off the east coast of the United States. It is a British overseas territory.
Bermuda’s capital city is Hamilton. Hamilton, which located on the north side of Hamilton Harbour, is also Bermuda’s main port. Hamilton was incorporated in 1793.
The historic town of St. George, Bermuda’s former capital, was founded in 1612 and is the oldest, continually inhabited English settlement in the New World. St. George, with its historic buildings, cobblestone streets and squares, and military fortifications, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000. St. George’s fortifications illustrate defensive techniques developed through the 17th to 20th centuries.
